What I Run

Here's my current rig. It's built mostly for gaming as most of my work is done on a laptop or in the cloud these days, so it's overkill for most business tasks and even graphic design. It does well with media creation, though I suspect the weakest point in my set up right now is sound, as I don't use a separate sound processing card.

Got Lots of Passwords? Passpack 'em!

Password Security

A little while back, I posted an entry on password security, and how many folks rely on passwords that were used for multiple applications, ie. same password for email, online banking and wireless network, and were too weak in that they were easily brute-forced (short passwords like "1234") or easily guessed based upon readily available personal information, ie. wife's birthday or your pet's name.

Google Voice Invite!

See video

Though it's hard to describe the service, I suspect once you watch the video explanation, it'll make a lot more sense. It's too early for me to jump into a full commitment, as there aren't that many people calling me or texting me aside from work. I'm not exactly known for being a big talker on cell calls (I hate the subtle delay on cell phone audio), and most of the family isn't heavy into texting, but perhaps this new service will widen my "calling circle."

I'll put it into "testing" for the moment.
